PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Janos Robsteck (ranked 4395 p4p, 25043 weight class) and Gakus Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gakus Amiga will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Janos Robsteck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robsteck tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Amiga manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Robsteck closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Amiga did well to prevent Robsteck getting side control.

Robsteck is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robsteck is thwarting Amiga's attempts to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amiga is looking to control Robsteck's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Amiga avoid being mounted?

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Robsteck napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Robsteck is trying to get back to half guard.

Robsteck is not content to let Amiga control the position.
Robsteck tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Amiga wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
What's Robsteck going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Robsteck might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Robsteck is trying to get back to half guard.
Robsteck is working hard here to advance position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Robsteck is staying active underneath Amiga, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Robsteck could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Amiga tries to keep at a distance but Robsteck has taken the fight into the clinch.

Amiga is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Robsteck can't fight it off and eventually Amiga manages to take the fight to the floor. Robsteck looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Robsteck manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Amiga manages to get himself to full guard.

Robsteck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Robsteck drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Amiga dives on top into guard.


Robsteck is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Robsteck is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Amiga can do to turn this around?

Robsteck breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Amiga displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Robsteck.
Amiga only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Robsteck darts in and clinches Amiga up against the cage.
Robsteck stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Robsteck is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Amiga pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Amiga is letting Robsteck control him for a moment.
Amiga wants to control but Robsteck postures up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Robsteck feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amiga trying to keep a closed guard but Robsteck is proving a slippery customer.
Robsteck is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Robsteck's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Robsteck postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Amiga is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Robsteck, into his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Robsteck gets back to half guard.
Robsteck is looking for a sweep. Amiga is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Robsteck has a closed guard, preventing Amiga from standing up.

Robsteck throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Amiga escapes and throws Robsteck's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Amiga takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Robsteck can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Robsteck tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Robsteck regains half guard.
Robsteck is looking to improve his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gakus Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
