PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James William (ranked 4325 p4p, 24483 weight class) and Kugus Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). William comes to the cage accompanied by Sicko mode. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James William !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
William fails with an attempt to clinch.
William fails to land the takedown.
Amiga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Amiga wants it to stay on the feet.
Amiga steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
William tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Amiga was well out of range. Poor timing from William .
Amiga appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
William shoots in but Amiga avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Amiga now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James William . That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Amiga. No joy for William on that attempt.
Amiga follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Amiga closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Amiga controls the position.

William explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Amiga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
William tries for a takedown but Amiga sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Amiga thinks about the counter body kick.
William lands a nice looking body kick.
William shoots and misses
and Amiga counters with a body kick that stops William in his tracks momentarily.
James William seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

William fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Amiga to the ground. William is now in Amiga's guard.

Amiga is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga wants to sweep but no luck.
William missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
William wants to control from the top but Amiga keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
William trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Amiga not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
William closes the distance and clinches up with Amiga, looking for a takedown. William pushes Amiga against the cage but Amiga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

William takes the fight into the clinch.

Amiga manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
William trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Amiga manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

William being controlled here, momentarily.

Amiga avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

William seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

William has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Amiga is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
William is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
William is trying to force a seperation but Amiga has the dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Amiga prevents a takedown attempt there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

James William dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

William fails to land the takedown.
Amiga swats away the attempt to clinch by William .
Amiga defends well against a solid takedown attempt from William .
Amiga is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
William throws a head kick but Amiga moves out of range.
As William backs off Amiga throws a huge counter combo but William manages to avoid it all.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
William doesn't manage to clinch there - Amiga circles away.
William tries to clinch but Amiga is having none of it.
William shoots for a takedown but Amiga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Amiga unleashes a big counter combination but William bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Amiga tries to move into range but William moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
William misses with a combination

and Amiga counters with a shoot takedown. William fights it but they end up in guard.
Amiga is standing up over William . William looks to escape but Amiga dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

William is looking for a sweep.
A lull in the action here.
William is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga happy to just control the position for now.
Amiga working the ground and pound.
Amiga is chipping away with strikes.
You can see the frustration on William 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
William tries to get back to half guard but can't.
William can't do much from the bottom here.

Amiga trying to control the action but William is working from the bottom.
William tries to bench press Amiga off him but Amiga keeps the position.
Amiga working away.
William tries to improve position but can't.
William being controlled for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
William swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Amiga follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Amiga fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. William sprawls well initially but Amiga persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
William is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
William has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Amiga is working away from the top position though.
Amiga is trying to control. William wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
William is looking to control Amiga's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can William avoid being mounted?
William is trying to stand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kugus Amiga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Amiga is looking to take a break and control but William is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
William is looking to control Amiga's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can William avoid being mounted?

William is not content to let Amiga control the position.
William trying to get back to full guard but Amiga takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

William can't escape the position.
William tries to hold on but Amiga pushes him away.
William might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
William is trying desperately to improve position.
Amiga lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Amiga trying to control but William is having none of it.
William is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga content just to control the position here.
William is desperately trying to improve his position but Amiga has a good base and remains in mount.
William is working hard here to advance position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
William tries to lock up and control but Amiga gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
William trying desperately to get to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
William is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
William is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Amiga trying to control but William is having none of it.
William taking shots to the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
William is desperately trying to improve his position but Amiga has a good base and remains in mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kugus Amiga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Amiga has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
