Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Niaz (ranked 2677 p4p, 3216 weight class) and Joseph Futeran (ranked 307 p4p, 350 weight class). Futeran has chosen Jesus Christ Superstar as his entrance music. Joseph Futeran has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Futeran shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Niaz is trying to defend but Futeran finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've been hearing good reports from Niaz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Niaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Futeran walks away with a smile on his face. Niaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Futeran throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Niaz tries to clinch but Futeran moves out of range.

and Niaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Niaz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Futeran dives on top into guard.

Niaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Futeran gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Futeran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Niaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Futeran has managed to get both his arms back between Niaz's legs - danger averted.
