Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Rowen (ranked 4906 p4p, 24999 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brendan Rowen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kiang moves out of range as Rowen strikes. Rowen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kiang's head backwards. Rowen moves into the clinch. Rowen wants to take the fight to the mat but Kiang manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Rowen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kiang is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Rowen is defending well against a takedown attempt. Kiang drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rowen pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kiang takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rowen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kiang counters with a body kick. Kiang with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rowen to score with a decent uppercut. Rowen gets in close and instigates a clinch. Rowen lands on the inside with an uppercut. Rowen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kiang fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brendan Rowen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rowen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rowen is looking to clinch but Kiang is avoiding it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rowen lands a lovely overhand right. Rowen connects with a jab. Kiang ducks under a wild hook from Rowen. Rowen slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. A lazy left from Rowen finds it's target. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rowen lands a glancing blow to the side of Kiang's head. Rowen tries to clinch up but Kiang circles away and keeps his distance. And Kiang responds with a good body kick, but Rowen manages to step out the way in time. Rowen lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. A jab from Rowen finds it's way through Kiang's defenses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Rowen. Kiang thinks about the counter body kick. Rowen shoots for a takedown but Kiang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A slow jab from Rowen misses its intended target. That kick from Rowen tenderised Kiang's leg. Kiang is trying to keep his angry face on. Rowen is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Kiang gets the takedown into side control. Rowen pushes Kiang away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kiang gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Rowen struggling a bit here. Kiang is staying tight to Rowen's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rowen can't do much from the bottom here. Rowen tries to improve position but can't. Rowen can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kiang tries for a takedown but Rowen circles away easily and Rowen counters with a straight right hand. Kiang throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rowen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kiang is in Rowen's guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Rowen dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Rowen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kiang's waist but Kiang gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rowen off to one side. And Kiang responds with a good body kick, but Rowen manages to step out the way in time. Kiang shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kiang was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Rowen is looking to regain half guard here but Kiang keeps moving and retains side control. Rowen is trying to control Kiang's posture but Kiang avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kiang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Rowen is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rowen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kiang's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Rowen trying to get back to full guard but Kiang takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Rowen wants to hold on but Kiang pushes him away. Rowen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rowen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Rowen sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Rowen looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rowen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rowen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kiang's guard. Rowen trying to move into half guard but instead Kiang has managed to sweep! Rowen looking for a sweep. Not yet Rowen, not yet. Kiang slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kiang won't allow Rowen to sweep him here. Rowen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rowen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kiang ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rowen sizes up Kiang with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kiang uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rowen. Rowen sizes up Kiang with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Brendan Rowen will probably get the nod. That's time! Rowen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Rowen cracks Kiang with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Kiang slips under a jab. Kiang counters with a body kick. Rowen lands with an overhand left. Rowen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Rowen throws out a powerful jab. Rowen lands a head shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice defenses there by Kiang. Rowen moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Kiang gets caught napping as Rowen dives in and scores a takedown. Kiang manages to retain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kiang keeping moving, preventing Rowen from controlling successfully. We've been hearing that Rowen has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Rowen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rowen wants to control from the top but Kiang keeps moving. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Rowen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Rowen jabs Kiang right on the nose. Kiang blinks but takes it well. Kiang has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Rowen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kiang sees it coming and avoids it easily. A swing and a miss from Rowen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kiang takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A punch combination from Rowen misses. Rowen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kiang sees it coming and avoids it easily. Kiang appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Kiang drops his hands momentarily and Rowen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Rowen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Rowen misses with an uppercut. Kiang saw that one coming. Kiang follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. Rowen cracks Kiang with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Rowen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Brendan Rowen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rowen clobbers Kiang with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Kiang takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Rowen scores with a jab to the jaw. Kiang uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rowen. Yawa Kiang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rowen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kiang can do to turn this around? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rowen scores with a punch to the head. Rowen gets in close and instigates a clinch. Kiang is pressed up against the cage. Rowen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kiang down to the mat. Kiang avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Brendan Rowen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kiang moves away from the strike by Rowen. Kiang is trying to counter with his kicks.
And that's the end of the fight! Brendan Rowen showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rowen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
