PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zen Myers (ranked 24857 p4p, 24924 weight class) and Onur Demir (ranked 490 p4p, 517 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Demir's choice of entrance music: Eva&Mia. The key to victory for Zen Myers has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zen Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Onur Demir!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Myers has taken the fight to the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Myers takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Myers manages to break the clinch.
Myers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Myers moves into the clinch.

Myers pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Myers tries to land a leg kick but Demir saw it coming and moves away.
And Demir tries to counter it with a takedown but Myers pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Myers tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Myers landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Myers stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Demir wants to stall.

Myers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Myers. No joy for Demir on that attempt.

Myers moves into the clinch.
A shot in the inside from Myers.
Myers stalling the fight.
Myers lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Myers breaks the clinch.
Demir tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Myers defends well and Demir ends up having to push Myers into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Myers smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Myers has Demir up against the cage in a clinch.
Myers tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Myers lands an elbow that stopped Demir in his tracks for a moment.

Myers breaks from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Myers connects with a solid leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Myers drives through and clinches with Demir against the cage.

Myers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Myers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Demir, pushing him back against the cage.
Demir tries to pull guard but Myers forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Zen Myers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Onur Demir.
Myers dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Myers lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Myers definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Myers slows down the pace here.
Myers tries to throw a body punch but Demir avoids it by throwing Myers back against the cage.
Myers misses with an elbow strike.
Demir tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Myers smiles and moves away.
Demir chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Myers can pounce on him.
Myers throws a wild body kick that Demir sees coming a mile off.

Myers rushes Demir and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Demir prevents a body shot from Myers.
Myers leaning his opponent against the cage.
Myers is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Demir is defending well for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Myers displaying some good clinch control by pressing Demir up against the cage.
Demir takes an elbow to the temple.
Demir letting Myers take a breather here.
Demir tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Myers's elbow.
Myers pushes Demir back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Myers lands an elbow just above Demir 's eye.
Myers is pressed up against the cage. Demir has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Myers down to the mat. Myers avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A nice leg kick lands there from Myers.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Zen Myers dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Myers circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Demir drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Myers follows Demir to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zen Myers!
After the big win, Zen Myers made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors BE Younick and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
