PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yossi Dalal (ranked 5931 p4p, 4272 weight class) and Mark Wall (ranked 430 p4p, 377 weight class). Mark Wall struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yossi Dalal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Wall!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalal throws a series of punches but Wall avoids them all with ease.
Wall looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Dalal looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Dalal loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wall avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Dalal trying to control the position from guard on top but Wall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dalal has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dalal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dalal misses with a head kick.
Wall on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Dalal decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wall won't allow Dalal to pass to mount.
Dalal perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Dalal seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Dalal is looking to advance position but Wall won't allow it.
Dalal is looking to take a break and control but Wall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dalal is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dalal scores with a jab to the body.

Wall gets caught flat footed, as Dalal shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dalal forces his way into half guard.
Wall wants to control but Dalal is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dalal looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Dalal is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wall sees it coming and defends easily.

Dalal gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

A decent looking body kick lands there for Dalal.
Dalal scores with a spinning back kick!
Dalal works Wall's body with a nice hook.
Dalal lands a jab-cross combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dalal looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wall blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dalal.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wall wants to control but Dalal is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yossi Dalal dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wall takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Wall is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dalal gets a double leg takedown into Wall's guard.
Dalal missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dalal controlling from the top position.
Dalal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dalal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dalal's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Wall is breathing heavily.

Wall will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dalal trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dalal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dalal lands in his opponent's guard.
Wall wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Dalal manages to pass to side control.

Dalal wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wall keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dalal stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Dalal drives through with a takedown into Wall's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Wall keeping full guard, as Dalal tries to pass.
Dalal wants to control from the top but Wall keeps moving.
Dalal throwing strikes from guard but Wall blocks nicely.
Wall being controlled here, momentarily.
Dalal is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wall can do to turn this around?

Dalal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wall works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dalal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dalal wants to control from the top but Wall keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dalal throws a head kick that half lands.

Wall is rocked!

Dalal closes the distance looking for a takedown. Wall stuffs it but Dalal still has hold of him. Dalal picks Wall up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Dalal slams Wall to the floor and that's really hurt Wall - he doesn't know where he is! Dalal throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yossi Dalal!
