Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Pereira (ranked 3712 p4p, 4131 weight class) and Olivier Aphone (ranked 428 p4p, 464 weight class). Pereira comes into the arena with 50 Cent - Many Man blaring out of the sound system. Aphone is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enjoy the silence. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Olivier Aphone!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aphone misses with a two punch combination.
Pereira thinks about countering with a head kick.

and Pereira cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A left and a right from Aphone both land. Nice combination.
Pereira scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Aphone throws a right and a left that both miss.
Aphone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pereira moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Aphone has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Aphone connects with a looping right hand.
Aphone throws a right hand that Pereira ducks under and follows up with a left that Pereira also avoids with ease.
Pereira throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Olivier Aphone has been cut.
Aphone takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Aphone blocks a head kick by Pereira.
Aphone jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A head kick from Pereira lands but Aphone takes it in his stride.

Pereira throws an overhand right that drops Aphone like a sack of potatoes! Pereira dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

In his post fight interview, Alex Pereira started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
