Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Laurent Smif!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matthews drops Smif with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Smif looks back up at him and smiles so Matthews waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Smif is rocked!

It looks like Laurent Smif has been cut.
Matthews throws a hook to the side of Smif's head but Smif sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Smif is still on wobbly legs! Can Matthews finish him?

The fighters circling - Matthews throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Maurice Matthews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Matthews takes the fight into the clinch.

Matthews is trying to trip Smif. He has hold of a leg but Smif is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Matthews persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Smif prevents Matthews from getting back to his feet.

Matthews throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Smif escapes and throws Matthews's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Smif cracks Matthews with a big right hand but Matthews just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Matthews is not content to let Smif control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Matthews tries to bench press Smif off him but Smif keeps the position.
Smif tries to advance to mount but Matthews denies him.
Smif lands a decent elbow from side control.

Smif has an Americana. Matthews didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Smif is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Smif hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
