Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kodiyak Redd!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Kip Thorne!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redd closes the distance and clinches up with Thorne, looking for a takedown. Redd pushes Thorne against the cage but Thorne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Redd has been working on his balance at LA Fitness, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Thorne.
Thorne is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Thorne works the jab nicely.

Redd closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Thorne's guard.
Thorne pulls Redd in close to prevent any damage.
Redd pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thorne is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redd throws a big elbow that misses.
Thorne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Redd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Redd wants to control from the top but Thorne keeps moving.
Thorne wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Redd throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thorne works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Thorne seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Redd controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Redd looks for a takedown but Thorne sprawls well.

and Redd takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kodiyak Redd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Redd tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thorne defends well and Redd ends up having to push Thorne into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It seemed like Thorne was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Redd ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Redd no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Redd looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Thorne is posturing up here but Redd has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Thorne tries to roll out but it's too tight and Thorne has to tap! Slick submission there by Redd!

After winning the bout, Kodiyak Redd thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
