Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Stubb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Stubb! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santiago Diaz! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice takedown defense from Stubb. No joy for Diaz on that attempt. Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Michael Stubb has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Santiago Diaz. Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stubb as he avoids it easily. Diaz fails to land the takedown. Stubb shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stubb tries to control but Diaz wriggling away. Stubb prevents Diaz from getting the reversal. Stubb looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Diaz is looking to improve his position but Stubb isn't that keen on the idea. Diaz throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Stubb throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Stubb moves to the back position. Stubb looking to break Diaz's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Diaz remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Stubb will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's one minute gone in the round. Stubb is looking for the choke from the back position but Diaz is controlling his hands well. Diaz can't escape the position.

Stubb will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Diaz tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Diaz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Stubb looking to secure an arm triangle but Diaz defends it well. Stubb prevents Diaz from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stubb working for a submission but Diaz is keeping him at bay. Stubb working for a guillotine from mount but Diaz is in no mood to give up. Stubb blocks Diaz's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Diaz is working to get back to half guard.

Diaz throwing strikes but missing. Diaz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stubb looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stubb looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stubb!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stubb wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diaz, who protects the arm well. Diaz manages to work his way to half guard, despite Stubb's best efforts. Diaz looking for submissions off his back. Diaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Stubb wants to work for an arm triangle but Diaz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stubb is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Diaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Diaz is refusing to be controlled, as Stubb sits in half guard. Stubb seems to be looking for submissions.
Diaz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Diaz throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Stubb manages to pass to side control. Stubb tries for a kimura but Diaz is defending well. Stubb tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Stubb dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Stubb closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away. Michael Stubb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stubb shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard. Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Stubb is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Diaz trying to strike off his back.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Diaz throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Stubb is pushing down on Diaz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diaz is fighting to maintain full guard but Stubb has managed to sneak the leg through. Stubb uses his free foot to push down on Diaz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diaz. Diaz tries to get back to half guard but can't. Stubb is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Diaz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Stubb has a good base and remains in mount. Stubb sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Diaz working to try and regain half guard.
Michael Stubb overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Diaz is trying to escape the mount but Stubb keeps good control and instead manages to take Diaz's back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Will Stubb go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Stubb sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Diaz taps out!
