PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lek Ketklang (ranked 3304 p4p, 3039 weight class) and Balink Tarlah (ranked 399 p4p, 373 weight class). Balink Tarlah is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lek Ketklang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Balink Tarlah!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ketklang steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tarlah.
Ketklang slips a jab and a cross from Tarlah.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ketklang darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Tarlah throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ketklang scores with a shot to the body.
Tarlah looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Tarlah has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ketklang is looking for a takedown.

Tarlah works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Ketklang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tarlah gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Tarlah got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ketklang has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tarlah has managed to get both his arms back between Ketklang's legs - danger averted.
Tarlah makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Ketklang keeping full guard, as Tarlah tries to pass.

Ketklang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tarlah is aware though and is defending well.

Tarlah is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Tarlah is working Ketklang over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ketklang has his foot on Tarlah's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tarlah works his way back into a safe position though.

Tarlah keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ketklang's head.
Ketklang is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Reach Around that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Ketklang wants to sweep but no luck.

Ketklang has his foot on Tarlah's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tarlah works his way back into a safe position though.
Tarlah must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tarlah stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ketklang swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ketklang working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tarlah doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tarlah manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Tarlah wants to control from the top but Ketklang keeps moving.

Ketklang is trying to control the position but Tarlah postures up.
Tarlah with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ketklang controls Tarlah momentarily but Tarlah frees himself.
Tarlah wants to pass the guard but Ketklang is keeping the position.
Ketklang tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Lek Ketklang has been cut.

Tarlah avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Tarlah postures up and lands a big shot to Ketklang's brow.

Ketklang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tarlah gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ketklang lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Tarlah pulls Ketklang in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tarlah tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ketklang drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tarlah looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tarlah looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tarlah!

Ketklang is looking to reverse the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ketklang gets back to half guard.
Tarlah lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Tarlah looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Balink Tarlah dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lek Ketklang's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Nice defenses there by Ketklang.

Lek Ketklang's cut is getting worse.
Tarlah digs a good hook to Ketklang's body.
Tarlah steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ketklang.
Ketklang scores with a nice head shot.
Tarlah misses with an uppercut. Ketklang saw that one coming.
Tarlah throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Tarlah walks into a stiff left hand from Ketklang.
Tarlah on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Balink Tarlah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tarlah digs a good hook to Ketklang's body.

Tarlah clinches.

Tarlah lands a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lek Ketklang's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Tarlah wants to control from the top but Ketklang keeps moving.

Tarlah distracts Ketklang with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Ketklang has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tarlah can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tarlah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ketklang is keeping the position for now.

Jeez, Lek Ketklang's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lek Ketklang's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Balink Tarlah!
A relieved looking Balink Tarlah thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
