The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kumata misses with the combination.
Gilchrist tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Crunch! Kumata slams his shin into Gilchrist's torso.
Kumata definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kumata shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gilchrist defends it nicely.

Gilchrist closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kumata's guard.
Kumata wants to get back to his feet but Gilchrist is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilchrist works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Gilchrist is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kumata is just riding it out for now. Gilchrist eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gilchrist is working for a kimura but Kumata is defending it quite comfortably.
