This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 17 losses; Jack Blood! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 13 losses; Galtero El Toro! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A momentary lapse in concentration from El Toro enables Blood to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. El Toro manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Blood (2) vs (0) El Toro Blood trying to control but El Toro is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. El Toro is trying to control the position but Blood postures up. Blood looking to pass the guard. Blood is working hard here to advance position. Blood looking to control the position here, rather than advance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. El Toro wants to sweep here but Blood controlling him for the moment. Blood wants to control from the top but El Toro keeps moving. Blood slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. El Toro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blood doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blood manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Blood controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. El Toro keeping moving, preventing Blood from controlling successfully. Blood wants to pass the guard but El Toro is keeping the position. Blood trying to control but El Toro is working from the bottom. Blood is fighting to break El Toro's control of his arms but El Toro is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. El Toro tries to land a sweep but no joy. Blood slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Blood trying to control the position from guard on top but El Toro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Blood passes El Toro's left leg - he's now in half guard. Blood trying to mount his opponent but El Toro defends it. Blood wants to control but El Toro is keeping him busy. El Toro wants to control but Blood is keeping busy and won't allow it. Blood is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Blood with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Blood wants to work for an arm triangle but El Toro is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
El Toro is controlling Blood's position as best he can from this difficult position. Blood looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. El Toro tries to get to full guard but Blood has control of the leg. El Toro has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Blood. Oh but El Toro has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Blood goes limp - he's gone! El Toro jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
