PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24952 p4p, 24895 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot goes for a double leg but Bitok avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bitok continues to drive forward.
Bitok only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Buktot has Bitok pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bitok manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bitok is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Buktot is defending well.
Buktot gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bitok.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok tightens his grip and picks Buktot up, before dumping him to the ground. Buktot manages to land in guard.
Buktot wants to sweep here but Bitok controlling him for the moment.
Bitok trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Buktot seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Buktot throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bitok escapes and throws Buktot's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bitok fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Buktot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nice sprawl there from Buktot as Bitok shoots in.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Buktot leaves Bitok with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Buktot throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bitok was covering up waiting for the punch and Buktot finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bitok can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Buktot controls the pace.

Buktot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bitok for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bitok's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Buktot trying to control the position from guard on top but Bitok is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bitok avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Bitok, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Buktot thinks about countering with a body kick.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.

Buktot scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Bitok tries to bench press Buktot off him but Buktot keeps the position.
You can see the frustration on Bitok's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bitok is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Buktot is staying active.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buktot remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Bitok closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Buktot's guard.
Bitok stays in close to Buktot's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buktot tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bitok is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Buktot gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bitok counters with a nice kick to the body.

Buktot wants to get back to his feet but Bitok passes into half guard.

Buktot is trying is best to control the position here.
Bitok is controlling the pace.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kulata Bitok comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bitok has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
