PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dilly Dilly (ranked 2852 p4p, 2396 weight class) and Richard Morrison (ranked 280 p4p, 240 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dilly Dilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Morrison!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dilly lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morrison circles away quickly and effectively.
Morrison slips a jab and a cross from Dilly.
Dilly thows a left - swing and a miss!
Horrible takedown attempt by Dilly or perhaps it was just good defense by Morrison, which made it look bad.
Morrison feints the counter takedown.
Morrison swings for the body but Dilly moves out of range.

Morrison closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dilly's guard.
Dilly is trying to control the position but Morrison postures up.
Morrison pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dilly is keeping the position for now.
Morrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Dilly is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dilly has control of Morrison's left arm, preventing Morrison from doing any damage.
Morrison sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dilly's guard.

Morrison wants to take a breather but Dilly is having none of it.

Morrison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Morrison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dilly swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dilly tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Dilly is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Morrison defends well.
Dilly controls Morrison momentarily but Morrison frees himself.

Dilly is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Morrison is aware though and is defending well.

Morrison got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dilly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morrison has managed to get both his arms back between Dilly's legs - danger averted.

Morrison stands and throws Dilly's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Morrison is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dilly is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dilly tries to bench press Morrison off him but Morrison keeps the position.

Morrison is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dilly knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dilly is trying to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dilly is not content to let Morrison control the position.
Morrison is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Morrison has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Catch Wrestling L.A.. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Dilly is looking to reverse the position.

A little feinted left hand from Dilly on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Morrison drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Dilly is trying to improve his position.

You can see the frustration on Dilly's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Morrison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dilly keeps working.
Morrison has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dilly is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Morrison's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Morrison is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dilly has managed to free his arm - good work.
Morrison wants to pass to mount but Dilly is defending the position.
Dilly looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dilly gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dilly regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Morrison.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Morrison throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Dilly throws a shot from downtown. Morrison moves away and avoids it.
Nice straight punches there by Morrison. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Morrison.
Morrison tries to bum rush Dilly with a series of wild strikes but Dilly uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Morrison ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dilly moves away.
Dilly pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Morrison back to the cage. Dilly follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Dilly slips a jab and a cross from Morrison.
Morrison keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Dilly lands a jab to the head.
Morrison shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dilly throws an overhand right that lands on Morrison's shoulder, as Morrison tries to avoid the shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Morrison. Dilly does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dilly wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Dilly blocks a leg kick.

Morrison drives through with a takedown into Dilly's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Morrison really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dilly. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dilly reaches up to try and control the position but Morrison seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Dilly rolls and tries to escape and now Morrison has his back!
Morrison tries to get the hooks in deep but Dilly pushed the leg off.
Dilly wants to escape the position.
Dilly looking very determined here, making life difficult for Morrison.
Morrison biding his time, looking for the opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dilly tries to escape but Morrison has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

I've got Morrison winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
