Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Hinds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evgeni Klitchkev! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Klitchkev. Klitchkev tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Klitchkev tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hinds sneaks back into half guard. Klitchkev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hinds might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Klitchkev is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Klitchkev is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hinds gets back to full guard.
Hinds has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Klitchkev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Hinds scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hinds wants to control but Klitchkev is keeping him busy. Klitchkev tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Klitchkev is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Klitchkev manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Klitchkev is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hinds defends it well. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hinds tries to roll over but Klitchkev keeps him under control. Hinds is working hard here to advance position. Klitchkev is looking for a kimura but Hinds is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Klitchkev to get the leverage.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Klitchkev misses with a takedown attempt and Hinds counters with a takedown into side control. Klitchkev looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Klitchkev wants to get back to his feet. Klitchkev tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hinds wants to control but Klitchkev is keeping him busy. Klitchkev looks to move to half guard but instead Hinds has passed into mount! Damn! Hinds avoids the attempt from Klitchkev to control. Hinds fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Klitchkev is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Hinds prevents Klitchkev from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hinds postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Klitchkev looks a forlorn figure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Klitchkev taking shots to the head. Hinds tries to control but Klitchkev wriggling away. Hinds scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Klitchkev wants to control but Hinds is having none of it. Klitchkev is desperately trying to improve his position but Hinds has a good base and remains in mount. Klitchkev is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Klitchkev is in all sorts of trouble here.

Dan Hinds dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hinds fails with the takedown and Klitchkev counters with a shoot takedown. Hinds fights it but they end up in guard. Klitchkev drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hinds dives on top into guard. Klitchkev has an active guard here but Hinds has managed to pass into half guard.

Klitchkev is in all sorts of trouble here.
Klitchkev is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Klitchkev is trying to reverse the position but instead Hinds has taken his back - oops! Hinds is trying to stick to Klitchkev's back but Klitchkev is turning into Hinds. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hinds's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Klitchkev.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hinds doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hinds here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Klitchkev advances position into side control! Klitchkev goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hinds has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Klitchkev but great work by Hinds. Hinds works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Dan Hinds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Klitchkev is trying to improve his position. Hinds working the head with strikes. Hinds tries to score with some ground and pound. Klitchkev controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Klitchkev is looking to regain half guard here but Hinds keeps moving and retains side control. Klitchkev throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Klitchkev is trying to get back to half guard. Hinds wants to stand but Klitchkev is controlling his arm.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Excellent takedown into side control there by Klitchkev. Klitchkev has an Americana. Hinds didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Klitchkev is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Klitchkev hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
