PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sheikh Mahmut (ranked 1791 p4p, 1833 weight class) and Geryon Macropus (ranked 69 p4p, 71 weight class). Mahmut kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sheikh Mahmut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Geryon Macropus!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahmut is looking to slow Macropus down with leg kicks.
Macropus tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mahmut counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Macropus throws a lazy right hand but Mahmut sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Macropus stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Sheikh Mahmut has been cut.
Mahmut seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Macropus closes the distance and clinches.
Macropus prevents a body shot from Mahmut.
Mahmut doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mahmut blocks a body shot from Macropus.

Mahmut manages to break the clinch.
Macropus checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Mahmut misses with a kick to the body.
Macropus steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Mahmut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mahmut scores with a hook.
Macropus throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An attempted straight right counter from Mahmut misses the target.
Mahmut scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Mahmut throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Macropus misses with a lunging right hand
and Mahmut connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Mahmut cracks Macropus with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Mahmut has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Macropus to stand back up!

Macropus is rocked!

It looks like Geryon Macropus has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
No joy there for Mahmut, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Macropus is still on wobbly legs! Can Mahmut finish him?
A shot to the body from Macropus misses

and Mahmut counters with a crisp right hand that drops Macropus! Mahmut lets Macropus back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Mahmut bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Mahmut cracks Macropus with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Macropus tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Mahmut pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Macropus is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sheikh Mahmut!
