Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ameri Can (ranked 22143 p4p, 1199 weight class) and Cody Evans (ranked 471 p4p, 136 weight class). Can comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ameri Can!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Evans!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Can tries to move into range but Evans moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Evans lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Evans.
Can throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Evans counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Can defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Evans.
Can throws a front kick aimed at Evans's knee but Evans avoids it well.
Ameri Can seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A head kick by Can misses
and Evans counters with a nice body shot.
Evans keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Evans lunges at Can with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Can's hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Can just misses with a punch to the body.
Can ducks under a wild hook from Evans.
Can pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Can swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Can keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Good work by Evans as he checks the leg kick.

Can throws a low kick but Evans avoids it.
Can's jab looks to have found its range, popping Evans under the eye.
Evans moves out of range as Can strikes.

Evans drives through with a takedown into guard.
Evans must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Evans throwing strikes but missing.
Evans stands up over Can, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Can managing to control the position.
Evans controls from within his opponent's guard.

Evans is looking to work some ground and pound but Can has wrist control.
Evans works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Evans seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Evans prevents Can from improving his position.
Evans is controlling the pace.

Evans looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Evans sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Evans stops Can from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Evans throws a chopping leg kick but Can manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Can scores with a crisp jab that stopped Evans in his tracks.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Can connects with an inside leg kick.
Can moves into range and connects with a jab.
Can looks to land a combination but Evans avoids it well.
Evans throws out a loose jab but Can uses good head movement to avoid it.
Can lands with a shot to the body.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Can - that will leave a mark!

Evans lunges at Can with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Can's hand.
A big left from Can misses.
Can walks into a left hand.
Evans moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Can works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Evans lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cody Evans will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Evans lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Can circles away quickly and effectively.

Evans drops Can with a right and a left! Evans comes rushing in but Can regains his composure and manages to keep Evans in guard.

Can is rocked!
Can is trying to keep Evans in close.
Oh Can is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Can bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Evans's guard.

Evans is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Can seems to have got his legs back now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Can slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Can prevents Evans from getting back to his feet.
Evans pulls Can in close to prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Can sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Evans keeping full guard, as Can tries to pass.
Can's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Can wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.
Evans manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Can manages to get himself to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Evans controlling from the top position.
Evans wants to control from the top but Can keeps moving.
Evans is looking to work some ground and pound but Can has wrist control.
Can trying to control the position here.
Can is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Can misses the shot to the body.
Evans lunges at Can with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Can's hand.
Evans scores with a crisp jab that stopped Can in his tracks.
Evans fails with the takedown.
Can was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Evans works the jab nicely.
Can throws out a powerful jab.
Can loads up on a big right hand but Evans slips the punch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Evans! But no joy.
Evans has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Evans connects with a right hand. Can shakes it off.
Evans might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Evans cracks Can with a good jab.
Can misses with a hook to the body
and Evans counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Evans's jab looks to have found its range, popping Can under the eye.
Evans circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Can to the canvas! Can doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Evans keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Evans!
A very excited looking Cody Evans made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
