Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juan David Franco (ranked 1343 p4p, 3723 weight class) and Devon Jackson (ranked 208 p4p, 470 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan David Franco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devon Jackson! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franco throws a head kick that misses. Jackson scores with a nice strike. A low kick from Jackson is predictable there and Franco counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Franco misses with a head kick.
Jackson throws a fast counter high kick but Franco manages to duck under it in time. Franco misses with a body kick. Franco throws a head kick but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson misses with a body kick. Franco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Franco throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Franco darts in and out, connecting with a jab. A head kick by Franco misses and Jackson counters with a three punch combo that has Franco backing up. Franco nods at Jackson to acknowledge the strikes. Juan David Franco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson misses with a hook. Franco ducked under it nicely. Jackson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Franco is out of range and Jackson settles back down. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jackson blocks a head kick by Franco.
Franco throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson moves out of range easily. Jackson misses with a looping left. Franco pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jackson back to the cage. Franco follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Jackson moves into the clinch. I was talking to Franco's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franco manages to break the clinch.
Franco turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Jackson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Jackson throws a jab when Franco was well out of range. Nice defenses there by Franco. Jackson avoids the body shot from Franco.
Franco throws a head kick but Jackson moves out of range.
Franco plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Jackson looks to land a left hand but Franco moved out of range nicely. Franco throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson moves out of range easily. Franco cracks Jackson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Franco slips under a jab. Jackson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Jackson is rocked! Jackson wants to clinch and Franco counters with a big right hand! Oh Jackson is in trouble here! Franco follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
