Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Masayuki Araki (ranked 3340 p4p, 2751 weight class) and Arthur Pugsley (ranked 327 p4p, 277 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Masayuki Araki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Pugsley!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pugsley drives through and clinches with Araki against the cage.

Araki lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Araki is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pugsley is just riding it out for now. Araki eventually gives up the hold.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Araki prevents Pugsley from improving his position.

Pugsley is defending against the submission attempts here by Araki.

Araki looking for a submission but Pugsley manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Araki postures up in Pugsley's guard and throws a big left but Pugsley blocks it.

Pugsley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Araki is aware though and is defending well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Araki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pugsley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Araki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Araki looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Pugsley looking for a guillotine here but Araki defends easily.

Pugsley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Araki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Araki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Araki makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Pugsley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Araki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Araki drops back looking for a leg! Pugsley is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pugsley manages to kick Araki off! Araki jumps back into Pugsley's guard.

Araki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Our spies down at at Crapollas Gym inform us that Pugsley has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Pugsley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Araki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Araki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pugsley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Araki defends well.

Araki drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Pugsley dives on top into guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Araki isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pugsley stacks Araki on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pugsley!
Pugsley is looking to take a break and control but Araki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pugsley closes the distance and pushes Araki back into the cage.

Araki lands a takedown into guard.

Araki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pugsley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Araki has managed to get both his arms back between Pugsley's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Araki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pugsley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Araki, into his guard.

Araki is looking to cinch up a triangle. Pugsley throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Araki's body to avoid the submission. Araki has instead reached around Pugsley's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Araki arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
