Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Niklas Aho (ranked 2753 p4p, 2588 weight class) and Dag Schotel (ranked 356 p4p, 338 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aho tries to land a front kick but Schotel steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Aho throws a head kick but Schotel moves out of range.
Aho feints and as Schotel raises his hands in defense, Aho changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Aho stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schotel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Schotel felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
