Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nate Ortiz (ranked 4373 p4p, 4372 weight class) and Krysto Callens (ranked 474 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nate Ortiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Krysto Callens! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz moves into the clinch. Ortiz drags the fight down to the ground.
Callens working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ortiz's head. Callens gets to his feet - Ortiz follows without any prompting. Ortiz avoids the head kick by Callens.
Callens feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ortizs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Ortiz rushes Callens and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Callens tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ortiz just stands there and leans against the cage. Ortiz stalling in the clinch.
Ortiz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Callens walks away with a smile on his face. Ortiz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Callens misses with a leg kick and Ortiz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Callens moves forwards but Ortiz connects with a nice, crisp jab. Ortiz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Callens defends well and Ortiz ends up having to push Callens into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ortiz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Callens gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ortiz misses with a punch to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Callens pushes Ortiz back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Callens successfully pulls guard.
Callens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Callens wants to stand and escape but Ortiz is having none of it. Callens thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Callens is looking to stand back up but Ortiz counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Callens. Callens trying to control from the bottom.
Callens wants to get back to his feet. Callens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ortiz controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Callens is trying to control but can't.
Ortiz lands with a punch from half guard. Ortiz prevents Callens from standing back up.
Ortiz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Callens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Callens is trying to stand up here but Ortiz is controlling him well. Ortiz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ortiz trying to mount his opponent but Callens defends it. Ortiz working over Callens with some ground and pound. Callens looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Callens has hold of Ortiz's hands but Ortiz slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Ortiz drops an elbow to the side of Callens's head. Ortiz wants to free his trapped foot but Callens is holding on for dear life with his legs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortiz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ortiz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Callens trying to hold on to Ortiz's head to control him but Ortiz postures up.
Ortiz stops Callens from getting back to his feet.
Callens looks winded! Ortiz trying to mount his opponent but Callens defends it. Ortiz stops Callens from getting back to his feet.
Ortiz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ortiz passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz controlling from mount. Callens in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Ortiz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Callens is just holding on here. Ortiz manages to take his back.
Ortiz is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Callens. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Callens is trying to stand back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nate Ortiz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Callens fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ortiz throws a nice outside leg kick. Ortiz takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Callens throws a jab but it's blocked by Ortiz. Callens displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Ortiz is rocked! Callens doesn't manage to clinch there - Ortiz circles away.
Oh Ortiz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Ortiz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Callens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Ortiz seems to have got his legs back now. Callens pushes Ortiz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ortiz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Ortiz stands up and beckons Callens to his feet. A low kick lands for Ortiz.
Callens is breathing heavily. Callens shoots in but Ortiz avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ortiz is looking to counter punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Callens throws a series of punches but Ortiz moves out of range. Nice jab there from Ortiz. Ortiz connects with a good right hand that stumbles Callens. Callens circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Ortiz throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Callens counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Callens takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. The fighters circle momentarily. Ortiz darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Nate Ortiz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice takedown defense from Callens. No joy for Ortiz on that attempt. Ortiz gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Ortiz will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Callens up against the cage. Callens fails to pull guard.
Ortiz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortiz moves into the clinch successfully.
Ortiz decides to pull guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Callens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ortiz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Callens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Callens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Callens trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ortiz seems keen to control Callens's posture. Callens wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving. Ortiz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Callens loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Callens stands up and waves to Ortiz to follow him. A chopping leg kick lands by Callens. Callens slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Good work by Ortiz as he checks the leg kick. Ortiz rushes Callens and presses him up against the cage. Ortiz jumps guard.
Callens wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Callens should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ortiz has tightened it up now! Callens should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
