Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Bloomer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matto Hyrra! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hyrra takes one to the chin there. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hyrra. Hyrra gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hyrra shoots and misses and Bloomer counters with a lovely straight right hand! Bloomer forces Hyrra back against the cage and clinches. Hyrra breaks from the clinch.
The crowd cheers as Bloomer lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hyrra doesn't seem phased though. Hyrra gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Bloomer digs a right hand underneath Hyrra's ribcage. Hyrra let out a lung full of air as it connected. Hyrra has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bloomer avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Marcus Bloomer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matto Hyrra. Bloomer scores with an uppercut up the middle. Bloomer slows down the pace here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hyrra lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hyrra trying to control the pace. Bloomer has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Bloomer wants to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hyrra is taking a breather. Bloomer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hyrra in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Bloomer tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Hyrra!
