This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Jin Yi! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Petrov drives through with a takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Petrov (2) vs (0) Yi Yi controls Petrov momentarily but Petrov frees himself. Petrov controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yi keeping moving, preventing Petrov from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrov postures up.

Yi is staying active underneath Petrov , who seems content to just control the action from this position. Petrov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Petrov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Petrov .

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Petrov content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Petrov trying to control the action but Yi is working from the bottom. The referee asks Petrov politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Petrov prefers to stall for the moment though. Yi is looking for a sweep. Yi prevents Petrov from improving position. Petrov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yi keeps working.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Petrov takes a little break here. Yi wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Petrov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Yi regains half guard. Yi is trying to maintain the position but Petrov is very close to passing his half guard. Yi regains full guard. Nicely done. Our spies down at at Nap or Tap inform us that Yi has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Yi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Petrov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Petrov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Petrov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Yi trying to keep a closed guard but Petrov is proving a slippery customer.

Petrov trying to control the position from guard on top but Yi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round.
