Smyth's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Smyth seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boganda for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boganda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smyth defends well.

Smyth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boganda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smyth has managed to get both his arms back between Boganda's legs - danger averted.

Smyth drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smyth jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smyth is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Boganda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smyth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smyth manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boganda tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Boganda is looking to cinch up a triangle. Smyth throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Boganda's body to avoid the submission. Boganda has instead reached around Smyth's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Boganda arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
