PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 24414 p4p, 24953 weight class) and Gakus Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion shoots in looking for a takedown. Amiga tries to sprawl out of it but Salvacion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Amiga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Amiga raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Amiga drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion is keeping him busy.
Salvacion sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Salvacion desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Amiga scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Amiga blocks the strikes from Salvacion.
Salvacion trying to hold on to Amiga's head to control him but Amiga postures up.
Amiga stalling.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Salvacion was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Salvacion off and has taken his back!
Amiga is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Salvacion trying to control the hands but Amiga breaks the grip.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga controlling the position well here. Salvacion rolled but Amiga kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Salvacion trying to control the action but Amiga just sinks the hooks in.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gakus Amiga dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Salvacion looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Amiga!
Salvacion controls the position from side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Salvacion looking to control but instead Amiga has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Amiga wants to sweep but Salvacion has passed to side control!
Salvacion wants to control but Amiga is keeping him busy.
Amiga is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Amiga can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Amiga is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Amiga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A lull in the action here as Amiga stalls from top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion tries to improve position but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Gakus Amiga will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Salvacion.
Amiga steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Nice takedown defense from Amiga. No joy for Salvacion on that attempt.
Amiga shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Salvacion counters with a nice double leg into side control. Amiga won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amiga is looking to reverse the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salvacion is looking to take a break and control but Amiga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Amiga sneaks back into half guard.
Salvacion controlling the action here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga fails with the takedown
and Salvacion counters with a head kick. That will keep Amiga thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Amiga closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salvacion quickly recovers to half guard.
Amiga is thwarting Salvacion's attempts to control the position.
Salvacion keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is taking a breather. Salvacion says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Clifford Val Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gakus Amiga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Amiga is continuing to stall.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Clifford Val Salvacion.
Well Amiga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
