Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bartolomeu Ganz (ranked 3638 p4p, 5677 weight class) and Guillaume De Smet (ranked 409 p4p, 527 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Guillaume De Smet was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bartolomeu Ganz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guillaume De Smet! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Smet shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ganz as he avoids it easily. Ganz misses with a hook. De Smet ducked under it nicely. Ganz has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Dr Hatsumi's Clinic in the buildup to the fight. Ganz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. De Smet throws a quick inside leg kick. De Smet fails with the takedown and Ganz counters with a lovely shot to the body. Ganz is looking to land body kicks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ganz jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
It looks like Guillaume De Smet has been cut. De Smet walks into a jab. De Smet shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ganz defends it nicely. Ganz is looking to counter punch. Bartolomeu Ganz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guillaume De Smet.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Smet tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ganz defends well and De Smet ends up having to push Ganz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. De Smet takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. De Smet shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ganz napping and manages to drive through into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Smet sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ganz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Ganz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but De Smet wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ganz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
De Smet working the ground and pound. De Smet tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De Smet has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ganz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ganz tries to get out of the position. Ganz is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Smet trying to control the action but Ganz is working from the bottom. De Smet working the ground and pound from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ganz keeping his opponent close. Ganz is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The strikes coming from De Smet are missing the target in this wave of attacks. De Smet wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ganz keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Smet misses with an attempted head punch from side control. De Smet goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ganz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in De Smet's guard! Nice work there by Ganz! De Smet has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. De Smet had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ganz defends it easily. Ganz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ganz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ganz stands up from De Smet's guard - Ganz perhaps looking for a knockout. De Smet slips a jab from Ganz. Nice takedown defense from Ganz. No joy for De Smet on that attempt. An attempted straight right counter from Ganz misses the target. Ganz feints and then cracks De Smet's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow De Smet down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Smet looks for a takedown but Ganz sprawls well. Ganz jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Ganz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Ganz scores with a jab to the body. Ganz leaves De Smet with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nice defenses there by De Smet. De Smet slips under a jab. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bartolomeu Ganz dominated that round. The cut man is working on Guillaume De Smet's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! De Smet misses with a takedown and Ganz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Ganz misses with a wild body shot. Ganz throws a head kick that half lands.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. De Smet uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ganz. De Smet with the counter takedown but Ganz avoids it easily. Ganz waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract De Smet. And De Smet tries to counter it with a takedown but Ganz pushes his down on his head and steps out. Ganz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from De Smet. And Ganz counters with a quick kick to the body but De Smet blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ganz throws an overhand right that lands on De Smet's shoulder, as De Smet tries to avoid the shot. De Smet tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Ganz connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed De Smet momentarily.
That has opened up Guillaume De Smet's cut even more. De Smet dives in for a single leg takedown but Ganz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Bartolomeu Ganz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guillaume De Smet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ganz lands a left and a right that send De Smet crashing to the mat, dazed. Ganz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
De Smet is rocked! Ganz throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. De Smet is still on wobbly legs! Can Ganz finish him? De Smet is breathing heavily. Ganz throws a pinpoint strike between De Smet's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends De Smet crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Ganz scores a great knockout victory!
