PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Louis (ranked 5266 p4p, 24783 weight class) and Milo Morbius (ranked 252 p4p, 273 weight class). Morbius has chosen milo dancing as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Milo Morbius was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Louis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Morbius tries to clinch up. Louis attempts a counter takedown but Morbius avoids it well and moves away. Excellent takedown into side control there by Louis. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Louis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Morbius has escaped the position, nice work there. Louis working away. Louis just content to control the position. Louis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Louis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Morbius is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Morbius pushes Louis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Louis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. A lull in the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Louis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Louis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Louis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Louis in side control, just content to control the action for now. Louis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morbius knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morbius can't do much from the bottom here. Louis staying calm. Louis has hold of Morbius's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Morbius tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Louis cranks the arm and Morbius screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Morbius, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Steve Louis!
