PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Jacobs (ranked 2886 p4p, 3536 weight class) and Daniel Patterson (ranked 382 p4p, 458 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jacobs circles away.
Jacobs really is a fat lump.
Nice takedown defense from Jacobs. No joy for Patterson on that attempt.
Patterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jacobs tries to avoid it but Patterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jacobs to the ground. Jacobs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Frank Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Patterson.

Jacobs rushes Patterson and presses him up against the cage.

Jacobs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Patterson tries a head kick but it misses.
Patterson goes for a double leg but Jacobs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jacobs continues to drive forward.
Jacobs feinted with a counter takedown.

Jacobs throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pattersons head.
Jacobs makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Jacobs is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Patterson is trying to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patterson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jacobs is defending well.
Jacobs pushes Patterson back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Patterson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jacobs is pressed up against the cage. Patterson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jacobs down to the mat. Jacobs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jacobs gets a clinch.

Jacobs has clasped his hands together around Patterson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Jacobs is working Patterson over with some ground and pound from side control.
Patterson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jacobs's best efforts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Patterson tries to get to full guard but Jacobs has control of the leg.

Patterson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jacobs is working away from the top position though.
Jacobs lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jacobs is keen to just control but Patterson is a slippery customer.
Nice strikes from Jacobs there.
Jacobs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jacobs lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Patterson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jacobs's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jacobs's back!
Jacobs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Patterson on the ground.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Will Patterson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Patterson has got one arm under Jacobs's chin. This could be trouble... Jacobs trying to control the other hand but Patterson gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Jacobs has tapped out! The fight is over!
