PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Vinicius (ranked 2217 p4p, 3749 weight class) and Kevin Jensen (ranked 285 p4p, 448 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Vinicius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Jensen!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jensen has closed the distance and engaged Vinicius in a clinch.
Vinicius is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jensen creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Vinicius is trying to break the clinch but Jensen has him pressed against the cage.
Vinicius tries to circle away but Jensen has him pinned against the cage.
Jensen tries to pull guard but Vinicius forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Vinicius can't break the clinch.
Jensen keeps control of Vinicius as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Jensen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vinicius pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Marcus Vinicius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Jensen.

Jensen moves to clinch but Vinicius breaks away
and Vinicius counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Vinicius fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jensen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jensen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vinicius manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vinicius appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Jensen closes the distance but Vinicius moves to the side
and Vinicius counters with a one-two to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A telegraphed right hand from Vinicius misses the target.
Jensen wants to clinch
and Vinicius counters with a stiff right hand.
Jensen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jensen is looking to clinch but Vinicius is avoiding it.
Vinicius appears to be looking for a big counter.
Vinicius throws a series of punches but Jensen avoids them all with ease.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jensen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vinicius swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vinicius throws a big counter combination but Jensen scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Vinicius uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jensen.
Vinicius throws a quick counter head kick but Jensen was just out of range.
Jensen looks to clinch
and Vinicius counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Jensen has Vinicius up against the cage in a clinch.

Vinicius escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vinicius clobbers Jensen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Jensen tries to clinch there but Vinicius circles away.
It looked like Vinicius was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jensen.
Vinicius is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jensen can do to turn this around?

Jensen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jensen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Vinicius got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jensen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vinicius has managed to get both his arms back between Jensen's legs - danger averted.

Jensen wants to sweep but no luck.
Jensen has a closed guard, preventing Vinicius from standing up.
Jensen pulls Vinicius in close to prevent any damage.
Vinicius has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jensen is proving hard to escape from.

Vinicius would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jensen is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Vinicius has his hands clasped together but Jensen extends and breaks Vinicius's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jensen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kevin Jensen!
Kevin Jensen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
