This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 32 losses; Darian Cruz! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Jack McScramble!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Cruz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cruz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Cruz gets tackled into the cage by McScramble. McScramble maintains the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that McScramble has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Cruz prevents a takedown attempt there.
McScramble wants a takedown.
Cruz decides to pull guard.
Cruz looking to hit a scissor sweep but McScramble is one step ahead there.
McScramble is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
McScramble tries to free his leg and advance position but Cruz is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McScramble wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position.
Cruz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McScramble is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cruz pushes a forearm under McScramble's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, McScramble is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
