And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 24 losses; Ruben Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Gracie keeps the fight on the outside.
And Gracie tries to counter it with a takedown but McStafferson pushes his down on his head and steps out.

McStafferson moves into range and clinches up with Gracie.
McStafferson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gracie to keep the fight standing.
McStafferson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gracie smiles and moves away.
McStafferson tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracie feints the counter takedown.
Gracie's coach down at Rivers Edge Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gracie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

McStafferson moves into the clinch successfully.

We've been hearing good reports from McStafferson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McStafferson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
McStafferson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

McStafferson wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Gracie has ideas of his own. He's got hold of McStafferson's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! McStafferson is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Gracie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ruben Gracie!
