And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joel Christ!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christ's corner calls for a 1-2. Christ obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Deane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Christ tries to escape but Deane is in control.
Deane working the ground and pound but Christ is defending the strikes.
Deane landing a few strikes.
Deane throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deane lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Christ down.
Deane in side control, throwing shots but Christ defends.
Deane sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Christ is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Deane wants to control but Christ is keeping him busy.
Deane throws a strike aimed at the side of Christ's head but Christ avoids it well.
Christ wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Deane definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Deane throws an elbow but Christ slips to the side and avoids it well.
Christ taking a bit of punishment here - Deane scoring with strikes.
Christ wants to get back to his feet.
Christ felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Deane with the ground and pound but Christ regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Deane prevents Christ from standing back up.
Christ is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Deane looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Christ with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Christ looks like he's trying to stand up.
Deane works his way into side control.
Christ is trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Deane postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Deane throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Christ defending against the ground and pound.
Deane tries to score with some ground and pound. Christ controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Deane lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Christ parries the strikes from Deane easily there. Deane is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Christ to escape.
Deane cracks Christ with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Deane immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Christ is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Deane!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Calvin Deane!
