Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jos Alves (ranked 3515 p4p, 24960 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yawa Kiang is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jos Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiang ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Alves works Kiang's body with a nice hook.
Alves comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Alves connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Alves sizes up Kiang with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kiang takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Alves waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kiang.
Kiang replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Alves blocks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiang steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Kiang ducks right into an uppercut from Alves.
Alves cracks Kiang with a right hand to the side of the head.

Alves throws a hook to the side of Kiang's head but Kiang sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kiang thinks about the counter body kick.
Jab, jab by Alves - just one landing.
A jab lands there for Alves.
Alves throws a hook but Kiang blocks it.
Kiang follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Kiang gets a takedown into half guard.
Alves is looking to get back to is feet but Kiang passes into side control.
Alves is trying to improve his position.

Kiang cracks Alves with a big right hand but Alves just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Alves tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kiang prevents Alves from escaping the position.
Kiang controls the position.
Alves struggling a bit here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kiang happy to just control the position for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves is trying to get back to half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Kiang blocks a jab.
Kiang appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alves wants to clinch.

Kiang moves out of range of the strikes.
Despite the aggression on Kiang's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Alves pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alves misses with a hook. Kiang ducked under it nicely.
Kiang throws a big counter head kick but Alves avoids it with no problem.
Alves is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Alves throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kiang appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Alves throws a jab but it's blocked by Kiang.
Kiang steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Kiang gets a double leg takedown into Alves's guard.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kiang manages to pass to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiang is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves tries to hold on but Kiang postures up.
Alves is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Alves is looking to improve his position but Kiang isn't that keen on the idea.

Alves tries to lock up and control but Kiang gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kiang takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Alves is trying desperately to improve position.
Kiang tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves is working to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yawa Kiang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kiang replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Alves blocks it well.

Alves lands with a hook. Kiang tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Alves throws a looping overhand right but Kiang ducks down to avoid it.
Kiang unleashes a big counter combination but Alves bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Alves throws a shot from downtown. Kiang moves away and avoids it.
Kiang doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Alves jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kiang steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Alves dives in and grabs Kiang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kiang pushes down on Alves's head and hops out.
Alves connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Alves getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Alves swings widly with a right hand
and Kiang counters with a body kick that stops Alves in his tracks momentarily.
The crowd cheers as Alves lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kiang doesn't seem phased though.
Alves misses with a hook. Kiang ducked under it nicely.

Kiang steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Alves throws out a leg kick but Kiang moves out of range and Alves only half commits.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jos Alves.
I think Alves has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
