PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Hart (ranked 5594 p4p, 3010 weight class) and Edgar Shark (ranked 608 p4p, 418 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cole Hart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgar Shark!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shark is looking to clinch.
Hart throws a big counter combination but Shark scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Shark drops his hands momentarily and Hart takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Shark looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Shark throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shark takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Shark bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Shark tries to clinch but Hart moves away
and Hart cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shark tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hart manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shark will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hart swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Shark is looking to clinch but Hart is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shark is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shark wants to clinch up but Hart keeps it at a distance.
Hart swats away the attempt to clinch by Shark.
Hart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shark.
Hart on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shark. Shark obviously looking to wear him down.

Shark tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hart defends well and Shark ends up having to push Hart into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Shark takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looked like Hart was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Shark.

Shark shoots in and drives through. Hart sprawls well.
We've been told by Hart's head coaches at BKC Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cole Hart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edgar Shark.

Edgar Shark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hart fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hart connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Shark is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shark dives in and grabs Hart's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hart pushes down on Shark's head and hops out.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Shark counters with a series of strikes that sends Hart to the canvas! Shark follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

Oh Hart is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hart seems to have got his legs back now.
Shark in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Shark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hart is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shark can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hart seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hart is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Edgar Shark has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shark is looking to control Hart's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shark avoid being mounted?
Hart blocks the strikes from Shark.
Hart wants to take a breather but Shark is having none of it.
Hart content to control rather than advance.
Shark tries to kick Hart off but Hart keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Shark throws a strike from the bottom but Hart passes into side control!

Shark is wriggling around trying to escape.
Shark really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hart. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shark bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Hart is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hart is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shark is controlling him.
Shark is looking to work some ground and pound but Hart has wrist control.

Hart has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Shark has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Hart lands a left hand.
A head punch on the inside from Shark fails to land.
Shark is looking to take this one to the mat.
Shark softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the fighters up against the cage, Shark throws an elbow but misses.

Shark can't find room to land a body shot as Hart controls the action.

Hart's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Cole Hart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cole Hart.
Well Hart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
