Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Huber Schlesien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vern Vurris!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schlesien looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vurris is fending him off so far but Schlesien persists. Nope, Vurris circles away and we're back to standing.
Schlesien scores with a punch to the head.
Vurris moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Vurris takes one to the chin there.
Schlesien circles away from the clinch attempt.
Schlesien fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Vurris tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Schlesien defends well and Vurris ends up having to push Schlesien into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Schlesien misses with a looping left.
Vurris throws a solid leg kick but Schlesien takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Vurris.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vurris.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vurris on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Schlesien.
Vurris flicks out a counter leg kick but Schlesien steps away.
Vurris showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Schlesien.

Vurris fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schlesien sprawls well initially but Vurris persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Vurris wants to control but Schlesien is keeping him busy.
Vurris prevents Schlesien from improving his position.
Vurris tries to pass the half guard into mount. Schlesien knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Schlesien has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vurris is working away from the top position though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Vurris lands a nice short elbow.
Schlesien might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Vurris seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schlesien does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Vurris looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Schlesien is pressing down on Vurris's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Schlesien is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Vurris has his hands clasped together but Schlesien extends and breaks Vurris's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Schlesien.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Huber Schlesien!
In his post fight interview, Huber Schlesien started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
