Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jake Askren (ranked 1588 p4p, 1408 weight class) and Jim Lahey (ranked 92 p4p, 76 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Jake Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Lahey!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lahey throws a front kick aimed at Askren's knee but Askren avoids it well.
Askren tries to counter by clinching up but Lahey breaks away and moves out of range.
Askren looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Askren fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lahey on the side of the head.

Askren clinches with his opponent.
Askren lands an uppercut.
Askren misses with a punch to the body.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Askren creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Askren lands with a left to the head.
Askren misses with a hook from the clinch.
Lahey lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Askren backwards.

Askren misses with a short punch on the inside.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lahey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Askren has picked Lahey up - he's going for a ride! Askren dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Askren passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Lahey!
The referee warns Lahey that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Lahey is trying to stand.

Askren thows a huge punch but Lahey dodges it nicely.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lahey takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Askren postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Lahey badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Askren around the waist but Askren pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Askren is the winner by TKO! Askren jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Askren!
A very excited looking Jake Askren made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
The defeated Jim Lahey had this to say: 'This Fuckin SHIT Pirate cheated!'.
