TWGC 37 (155lbs, D1): Amsterdam Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 3 losses; Rimtas Kentas! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 32 wins and 30 losses; Able Archer! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kentas rushes Archer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Archer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kentas smiles and moves away.
Kentas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Archer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kentas somewhat. Kentas tries to shoot in for a takedown. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kentas is trying to escape the mount but Archer keeps good control and instead manages to take Kentas's back.

Kentas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Archer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kentas.
