The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Benjamins shoots in looking for a takedown. Pearson tries to sprawl out of it but Benjamins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pearson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Benjamins with that takedown attempt.
Benjamins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pearson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Benjamins told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Pearson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Benjamins is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

We've been hearing good reports from Pearson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
