This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 3 losses; Bob Le Boulder! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Zaitsev tries to clinch up and Le Boulder counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Zaitsev! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Zaitsev (0) vs (4) Le Boulder Zaitsev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Le Boulder wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Zaitsev is working hard here to advance position. Le Boulder is staying tight to Zaitsev's torso, preventing him from escaping. Le Boulder is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Zaitsev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Le Boulder taking a breather here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Le Boulder's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Zaitsev is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Zaitsev gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Let's hope that Le Boulder has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Zaitsev wants to control but Le Boulder is keeping busy and won't allow it. Zaitsev tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Le Boulder has advanced to mount. Uh oh. That's nine minutes gone in the round. Zaitsev tries to reverse the position but Le Boulder maintains control. Zaitsev is trying to reverse the position but instead Le Boulder has taken his back - oops! Score +3 for taking back: Zaitsev (2) vs (15) Le Boulder Le Boulder slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Zaitsev is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Zaitsev won't allow Le Boulder to pass to mount. Well, if Le Boulder is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Le Boulder. Zaitsev keeping control of the position. Le Boulder slows the pace down in half guard. Well,Zaitsev is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Le Boulder is trying to work for a kimura but Zaitsev is defending well.
Le Boulder is taking a breather. Zaitsev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Le Boulder with more of the same as he continues to hold on.

Le Boulder stalling. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! It looks like Le Boulder might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Le Boulder wins on points by 15 to 2. Our winner, Bob Le Boulder, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. |
