The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rimenis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Landron counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Rimenis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rimenis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Landron has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rimenis after a bit of a struggle.

Landron is trying to push Rimenis away but Rimenis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Rimenis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Landron escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rimenis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Landron wants to counter with a clinch but Rimenis pushes him away.

Maris Rimenis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rimenis moves out of range as Landron strikes.
Landron throws a right and a left that Rimenis avoids nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rimenis enables Landron to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rimenis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rimenis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rimenis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
