Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between BC Smith (ranked 965 p4p, 1361 weight class) and Daniel Steel (ranked 138 p4p, 182 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, BC Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Steel!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a body kick.
Steel scores with a jab to the head.
Smith misses with a leg kick
and Steel counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like BC Smith has been cut.
BC Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Steel lands a big shot that drops Smith! Can he finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith has his hands on Steel's head, controlling the position.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Steel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Steel looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Steel throws his legs up looking for a submission but Smith uses it to pass to side control.

Smith happy to just control the position for now.
Smith tries to stand but Steel is controlling his head.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Steel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Smith is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Steel wants to control the position but Smith says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith is taking a breather. Steel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Steel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steel manages to avoid it.
Smith tries to clinch but Steel moves out of range.
Steel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith throws a hook but Steel blocks it.
Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Steel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Daniel Steel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Steel avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Steel scores with a nice head shot.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Steel sprawls well. Steel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Steel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Steel lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Steel connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Smith lands with a nice body punch.
Daniel Steel seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Smith closes the distance and pushes Steel back into the cage.
A short left from Steel.
Smith tries for a takedown but Steel manages to get underhooks.
Steel swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Steel lands a right hand.

Steel successfully pulls guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Steel looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Steel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Steel pulls Smith in to control the position.
Smith wants to stand but Steel has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Smith keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Steel's head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Steel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
Our spies down at at The Scrap Squad inform us that Steel has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Smith is pushing down on Steel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Steel is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through.
Steel has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Steel is doing well to control the position and prevent Smith from advancing to side control.
Steel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Smith content to control rather than advance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Daniel Steel will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Smith throws out a powerful jab.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.

Steel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.

Smith wants to control the position but Steel says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Smith gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith is pulling down on Steel's head. It's preventing any offense from Steel, at least for the moment.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Steel's guard.

Smith wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.
Smith looking to pass the guard.

Steel looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Smith passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Still in half guard, Smith seems content to control.

Steel has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Smith escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Smith!

BC Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Steel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
