PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Carlton Adesanya (ranked 21695 p4p, 20030 weight class) and Dwayne King (ranked 470 p4p, 489 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 23 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dwayne King!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from King.
King tries a head kick but it misses.
Adesanya takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Carlton Adesanya has been cut.
King ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Adesanya moves away.
King listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
King throws a body punch but Adesanya moves out of range.
The crowd cheers as King lands an impressive looking overhand right. Adesanya doesn't seem phased though.
Adesanya avoids the head kick by King.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Adesanya tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. King manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
King takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

It looks like Dwayne King has been cut.
King throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Adesanya on the side of the head.
King looks to land a left hand but Adesanya moved out of range nicely.
King dodges the punch combination from Adesanya.

and Adesanya takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

King throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Adesanya misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Adesanya is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Adesanya uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from King.

Adesanya closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends King crashing to the mat! King uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!
King is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Adesanya.
Adesanya tries to clinch but King moves out of range.
King cracks Adesanya with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from King lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Adesanya has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Adesanya and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
King keeps Adesanya at a distance using the push kick.
King misses the jab.
Adesanya looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Adesanya keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Adesanya throws a big counter combination but King scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Dwayne King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King misses with a hook. Adesanya ducked under it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Adesanya counters with a big 3 punch combo that drops King on his ass! King wobbles back to his feet half way through the count and though looking a bit dazed, the referee is going to allow the fight to continue!

and King makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Carlton Adesanya takes that one as he scored multiple knockdowns. Dwayne King was lucky to get out of the first round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
