Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Gawain (ranked 5512 p4p, 3024 weight class) and Vinny Dias (ranked 579 p4p, 389 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derrick Gawain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinny Dias! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gawain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Dias shoots in for a takedown but Gawain shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Vinny Dias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gawain misses with a kick to the body.
Dias shoots in but no luck this time. Derrick Gawain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinny Dias. Dias blocks a jab. Dias wants to counter the offense by Gawain and move into the clinch position. Nice sprawl there from Gawain as Dias shoots in. Dias tries to clinch up but Gawain circles away and keeps his distance. Dias throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Dias blocks a head kick by Gawain.
Dias swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Dias clinches up with Gawain and pushes him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gawain misses with the head strike.
Dias lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Dias manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Gawain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gawain is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've been hearing good reports from Gawain's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gawain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gawain is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Dias has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Gawain is looking to defend but Dias has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Gawain! Dias pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Gawain taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Vinny Dias!
