Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Liam Mertens (ranked 3796 p4p, 4318 weight class) and Jebediah Stewart (ranked 486 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jebediah Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mertens looks to land a left hand but Stewart moved out of range nicely.
Stewart keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Stewart swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Stewart throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mertens sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mertens jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mertens ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mertens was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Mertens defending well as Stewart loads up on a big left hand.
Stewart throws a body shot but no joy.
Stewart doesn't manage to clinch there - Mertens circles away.
Stewart uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mertens.
Stewart misses with a wild body shot.
Stewart throws the left hand but Mertens avoids the punch easily.
Stewart fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mertens manages to avoid it.
Jebediah Stewart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stewart ducks under a wild hook from Mertens.

Mertens rushes Stewart and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Stewart misses with a hook from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mertens creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A nice left hand lands by Mertens.
Mertens throws a big uppercut that drops Stewart! More strikes from Mertens and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Stewart lies dazed against the cage as Mertens celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Liam Mertens!
Liam Mertens decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
