Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Okafor (ranked 61 p4p, 196 weight class) and Cesare Tiramanti (ranked 11 p4p, 34 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Okafor! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 29 - 14 - 2, fighting out of New York, Cesare Tiramanti! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A lazy body kick from Tiramanti and Okafor counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Tiramanti pushing out the jab but it's not landing. An attempted straight right counter from Okafor misses the target. Okafor misses with a looping right. A decent looking cross lands there for Tiramanti. Okafor checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Okafor swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Okafor fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Okafor moves away from the strike by Tiramanti. A solid leg kick lands there for Tiramanti.
Tiramanti swings away with a leg kick that misses. Okafor feinted there with a counter leg kick. Tiramanti has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tiramanti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Okafor was well out of range. Poor timing from Tiramanti. Okafor swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Tiramanti listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Tiramanti misses with a body shot.
Okafor takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okafor avoids the head kick by Tiramanti.
An attempted straight right counter from Okafor misses the target. Tiramanti thows a leg kick but Okafor checks it and Okafor counters with a good, hard body kick but Tiramanti shrugs it off. Tiramanti misses with an uppercut. Okafor saw that one coming. A head kick misses from Tiramanti. It looked like Okafor wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Tiramanti lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Okafor at a distance.

Okafor was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Cesare Tiramanti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tiramanti swings away with a leg kick that misses. Tiramanti throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Okafor. Tiramanti connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Tiramanti changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Tiramanti throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Okafor. Tiramanti closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Okafor is doing well to control the position and prevent Tiramanti from advancing to side control. Okafor wants to control but Tiramanti is keeping busy.
Okafor looking for submissions off his back. Tiramanti trying to pass the guard but Okafor defending well. Okafor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Tiramanti is working for a kimura but Okafor is defending it quite comfortably.

Tiramanti is thwarting Okafor's attempts to control the position. Okafor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Tiramanti gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Okafor tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Tiramanti throws a jab but it's blocked by Okafor. Okafor fires out a quick counter leg kick but Tiramanti just manages to avoid it. Tiramanti has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Okafor finds it's way round the side to connect with Tiramanti's head. Okafor throws a hook but Tiramanti avoids it easily. Tiramanti shoots in but no luck this time. Okafor looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Tiramanti ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Tiramanti lands with an overhand left. Okafor checks the leg kick. A slow jab from Okafor misses its intended target. Tiramanti throws a push kick but Okafor slaps the foot to one side. Okafor swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Tiramanti misses with a hook. Okafor ducked under it nicely. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Cesare Tiramanti dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Tiramanti lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nice takedown defense from Okafor. No joy for Tiramanti on that attempt. Okafor is looking to counter punch. Tiramanti swings away with a leg kick that misses. Tiramanti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Okafor was well out of range. Poor timing from Tiramanti. Okafor swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Tiramanti misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Okafor.
Okafor throwing a counter right hand but Tiramanti manages to avoid it. Cesare Tiramanti seems to be getting the better of the standup. Okafor throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tiramanti on the side of the head. Okafor connects with a single shot there. Tiramanti has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Tiramanti connects with an inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tiramanti waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Okafor. Okafor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Tiramanti tries to score with a low kick but Okafor moves his leg out of the way. Okafor feinted there with a counter leg kick. Tiramanti scores with the left hand. Okafor knows he should have avoided that one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okafor lunges at Tiramanti with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Tiramanti's hand. Tiramanti scores with a jab to the head.
Tiramanti shoots and misses and Okafor counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Tiramanti fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Okafor manages to avoid it. Okafor was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Okafor lands a jab to the head.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tiramanti is defended easily by Okafor. Okafor throwing a counter right hand but Tiramanti manages to avoid it. Mike Okafor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cesare Tiramanti. Tiramanti with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Okafor to score with a decent uppercut. Tiramanti tries to land a body kick and Okafor counters with a huge left! Tiramanti is in big trouble! He's backing up but Okafor isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Tiramanti from any more damage. A dominating finish by Okafor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Okafor! Mike Okafor retains his light heavyweight title! Mike Okafor decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
