Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pat O Brien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Brien has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The key to victory for Pat O Brien has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

O Brien had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Washington is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. O Brien Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Washington's back instead.

O Brien doesn't have the hooks in and Washington manages to turn into his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

O Brien bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Washington's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
O Brien drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Washington manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now O Brien has Washington in his guard.
Washington seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
O Brien is looking to stand up but Washington isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Washington has closed the distance and engaged O Brien in a clinch.
O Brien tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Washington smiles and moves away.
O Brien avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pat O Brien seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
O Brien takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Washington feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

O Brien isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Washington stacks O Brien on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Washington!

Washington has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of O Brien's body.
Washington is trying to stick to O Brien's back but O Brien is turning into Washington. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Washington's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by O Brien.

Well Washington has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
