Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Monty Don!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Potthast!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Don throws a head kick that misses.
Potthast tries to counter with a clinch but Don shakes him off and moves away.
Potthast misses with a takedown attempt
and Don counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A jab from Don does it's job there.
Don has his takedown stuffed
and Potthast cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Potthast throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Don drops down looking for a counter takedown but Potthast sprawls and moves away.
Potthast looks to score with a jab to the body but Don is just out of range.

Potthast on the wrong end of a nice jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Potthast throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Potthast bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Potthast has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Charlie Potthast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Potthast shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Don sprawls well. Don wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Potthast gets slowly back to his feet.

Potthast shoots in for a double leg but Don sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Potthast fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Don manages to avoid it.

Potthast is trying to control. Don wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Don tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Potthast was well out of range. Poor timing from Don.

Potthast manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Don on his heels. He'll look to pass Don's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Potthast throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Potthast trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Don tries to land a sweep but no joy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Don has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Potthast can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Potthast content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Potthast's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Potthast won't allow Don to sweep him here.
Potthast missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Don is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Potthast has his hands clasped together but Don extends and breaks Potthast's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Don.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Monty Don!
During a confident post fight interview, Monty Don thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
