Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joseph Hamadou!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edvard Matiae!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamadou changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matiae tries to avoid it but Hamadou manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matiae to the ground. Matiae escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Matiae lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Joseph Hamadou has been cut.
Hamadou shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Matiae counters with a right hand to the body.
Hamadou takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hamadou seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Matiae shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Hamadou is backing up but Matiae catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Hamadou covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Matiae Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edvard Matiae!
After winning the bout, Edvard Matiae thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
