PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Tassen (ranked 3582 p4p, 635 weight class) and Dwalin Giantslayer (ranked 418 p4p, 95 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lee Tassen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Dwalin Giantslayer!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giantslayer throws a series of punches but Tassen avoids them all with ease.

Giantslayer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Giantslayer wants to stand but Tassen has his arm trapped.
Tassen wants to get back to his feet but Giantslayer drags him back down.
Tassen is working to avoid the ground and pound but Giantslayer connects with a decent elbow.
Giantslayer trying to control the action but Tassen is working from the bottom.
Tassen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Giantslayer tries to stand but Tassen is controlling his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tassen avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Giantslayer.
Giantslayer controlling the position from side mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The strikes coming from Giantslayer are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Tassen's face as Giantslayer controls the position.
Giantslayer working the ground and pound but Tassen is defending the strikes.
Tassen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tassen tries to get out of the position.
Giantslayer lands some shots froms side control.
Tassen parries the strikes from Giantslayer easily there. Giantslayer is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Tassen to escape.
My spies in London MMA Club inform me that Giantslayer has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Tassen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Giantslayer moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

It looks like Giantslayer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Tassen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Giantslayer on the ground.
Giantslayer wants to control but Tassen is keeping him busy.

The ground and pound from Giantslayer seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Giantslayer postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Giantslayer throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Giantslayer takes a little break here. Tassen wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tassen throws a poor cross that misses

and Giantslayer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Giantslayer throwing shots but Tassen is blocking nicely.
Giantslayer is looking to advance position but Tassen won't allow it.
Giantslayer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tassen's head.
Giantslayer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Giantslayer frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Giantslayer thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The referee warns Tassen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Tassen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

It looks like Lee Tassen has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Giantslayer! Tassen is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Dwalin Giantslayer!
After the fight, Dwalin Giantslayer was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
